Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is when you monetize your blog by promoting and selling other’s products. You would try to earn money by placing an affiliate link on your website, social media account, or anywhere that you have online influence for potential sales. Affiliate marketing ultimately aims to have people purchase a product through your affiliate link or links.
So when one of my readers clicks any links to Amazon products for example and buys a product through my link, I get paid a commission for that!
Check out my fail-proof guide to affiliate marketing to learn more how you can monetize your blog with affiliate links today!
Utilize Affiliate Networks
I use affiliate links from the below networks for programs that do not have their own hosted affiliate program but offer through these affiliate networks instead. These programs include StudioPress, iThemes, PicMonkey, Grammarly, Fiverr, Decluttr, Swagbucks, etc. You just search your desired category and join the programs you see fit from each network.
After you sign up for an affiliate network and complete your profile, search your desired category and join the programs you see fit from each network.
Affiliate Window is one of my absolute favorite affiliate networks and most of the products I promote come from AWIN so I make the most money from AWIN. Also, when you join AWIN they have their own affiliate program so when you refer others to also sign up for AWIN you get $30! One of the only affiliate networks that payout that high for referrals.
Other affiliate networks:
Promote Affiliate Products
If you have programs in mind, go ahead and google your program name with the word affiliate and you are bound to find somewhere you can sign up. Here are some programs I promote using affiliate links and have worked well for me so far.
- As mentioned above, Amazon.
- eBay
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Siteground
- Bluehost
- Creative Market
- Elegant Themes
- ConvertKit
- Shopify

You can even promote affiliate products and links using Pinterest. All you do is create a great graphic for the pin, disclose it is an affiliate pin, and inject your affiliate link into the link area of the pin! Learn more about how you can make money using Pinterest in this helpful post!
Pay Per Click Ad Networks
Pay per click ad networks are exactly what they say they are. You get paid per click from the ads you display on your blog.
Some of my favorite PPC ad networks are Google Adsense and Chitika.
However, they work best with a higher amount of traffic. Check out this list of ad networks if you don’t have a high amount of traffic yet or are having problems with getting approved to Google Adsense.
Pay Per Impression Ad Networks
Pay per impression ad networks are very similar to pay per click ad networks but you don’t have to have your site visitor to click the ads to get paid, the ad impression (or views) is all you need for a significant payout.
If you have a large amount of traffic, this monetization strategy is perfect for you. A great pay per impression ad network I recommend is Federated Media.
Sponsored Content
So many sites are out there now that are geared towards helping bloggers like you and me make money by writing sponsored content for them. On those sites, you will see various campaigns or opportunities up for grabs that you can pitch on how you are best suited for the content they want to sponsor you to write. If you get chosen, you will follow the indicated guidelines and get paid up to $300 dollars in some instances for a single post.
Check out my list of 28 sites that pay you to blog to see what opportunities there are for you in the webverse!
Sponsored Social Media Content
Izea has been my recent favorite for getting paid to post sponsored social media content. This means that you get paid a certain amount for posting on twitter, facebook, instagram, etc. On Izea you can browse the available opportunities and post what is right for your niche. I posted a sponsored social media post today using Izea for a deal on signing up for dental insurance as a part of my niche is finance/frugal/thrifty living.
Selling Your Own Services
One of my favorite easy ways to make money blogging is selling services to your readers and converting them into clients. I have not mastered this way yet as I am still trying to get my blog just right and trying to figure out the best services to offer to my readers. For now I do have a list of services I do offer but have not fully launched the business side of this aspect of my site. You can see the list of services I offer here.
Some services you might think about offering on your site or blog:
- Virtual Assistant Services
- Social Media Management
- Web Design
- Web Development
- Branding
- Logo Creation
- Blog And Business Coaching
- Pinterest Strategist
What other services have you thought about offering or already offer? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
Selling Course Content
Creating your own course for something you are a subject matter expert in and selling that course content can be a great passive way to monetize your blog.
Michelle is the creator of makingsenseofcents.com and makingsenseofaffiliatemarketing.com, her affiliate marketing course that makes a killing! She is a blogging and business superwoman. She quit her full-time job to run her own business and travel full time. She makes $100,000+ monthly from her blogging business and a large part of that income comes from affiliate marketing.
Last month I signed up for Michelle’s Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing course, which made a world of difference for me. It not only reassured me that I was on the right track but simplified everything step-by-step down to a T so I could add and tweak my strategy and hopefully perfect it. It is the best blogging resource I have come across and I have access to all the course content and Facebook group for life.
Michelle’s experience is unmatched in the blogging world, at least I think so, and thus her course content is unique. Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing was 100% worth it and has already doubled my affiliate marketing earnings within only 2 weeks.
Selling Digital or Physical Products
If you are skilled at fixing up old furniture and selling it on ebay, make a site out of it and increase your earnings. Maybe make a Shopify site out of it!
Are you a great graphic or web designer? Offer to sell design templates on your site or blog! You can even create a variety of free printables to reel our readers into an email list and then promote your other printables that you have for sale to those readers who signed up for the freebies!
Maybe you have some photography experience and a Photoshop star? You can offer to sell styled stock photos on your site like Haute Chocolate does.
The possibilities are endless really for what you can sell on your site or blog.
Membership Programs
Haute Chocolate not only offers styled stock photos for sale but they offer an entire styled stock photo library available to members only. This means as a member you pay a monthly or yearly fee to have full access to all of their resources. Not a bad idea eh?
What other ways do you make money blogging or which one of these ways make you the most money blogging? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

Blogging resources that I love:
Here are some blogging resources I use to get from where I was when I started in April 2017, to now.
Bluehost: When you are first starting your blog, you don’t want to spend a fortune on hosting and neither did I. Hosting your blog on Bluehost gives you a free domain, free site builders, free 1-click WordPress install, 24/7 support and all for only $2.95 a month.
Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing Course: When I first started this blog I was confused with how people made money on their blogs, scratching my head wondering why money wasn’t piling into my Amazon affiliate account. Then I found this course that is helping me to make almost $1000 a month, and my blog isn’t even a year old. If you invest in any courses for your blog, this is the one to invest in!
Creative Market: I love using Creative Market to find cute graphics, stock photos, fonts, plugins and themes to incorporate into my blog. I also love the periodic freebies they send straight to my inbox. There is something for everyone on Creative Market, for as low as $0 in some cases!
Elegant Themes: Elegant themes is the number one theme provider in premium WordPress themes, in my opinion. Their Divi theme is out of this world and completely changes the way we build and maintain blogs by making everything 100% easier. I love this site.
Affiliate Window: A number of the affiliates I promote throughout my blog come through Affiliate Window or AWIN. Affiliate Window is a great and easy to use affiliate network to help boost your blog earnings.
Grammarly: Without this tool, every other sentence you read on this blog would be completely butchered. Grammarly is an extension I installed onto my Chrome browser and automatically spell-checks and grammar-checks ANYTHING I type. I love it.
Picmonkey: I use PicMonkey and Canva for editing all the images, graphics, pinnable images and featured images on my blog. I switch between the two to keep the cost low ;).

Hello,
Awesome tips over here 🙂
No, doubt affiliate marketing can end up with making a fair amount of money for us, but till now it has not worked for me.
Still working with the tactics of affiliate marketing as we all know that it not an easy task to be dealt with.
But I am happy with pay per clicks ads, they have proved quite healthy for me.
Thanks for the share.
Shantanu.
Hello,
Valuable Information!
Monetization is an important part of blogging, but I personally prefer monetizing when I’ve given something to my target audience. It’s far easier to sell something after giving value in the form of blog posts, webinars and videos.
In my opinion affiliate marketing works best for those blogs, which are new or not getting much traffic due to any reason.
It’s not easy but your article helps me lot to get monetization tips and apply them on my blog.
I will tweet your post.
